Artistic statement

As a trans queer person in late stage capitalism, I’ve always been hyper aware of my physical being and of my identities. I find my own and people's relationship with their bodies and identities to be both fascinating and overwhelming. I see myself becoming a multi-faceted creature with octopus arms, spreading wide and long and becoming more and more confused for each layer I find. I long for something simple, freedom from oppressive structures, primal in symbiosis with nature. At the same time, I’m heavily inspired by and drawn to city movements, such as pop- and club kid culture. I don’t know where I belong. This is what my art represents.I create in multiple mediums using performance and sculpture as channels for my art. I’m often using my own body as a vessel for expression. My performances always have a ritual in some sense tied to them, tied to a specific goal.My art becomes a vessel for processes happening inside of me, some present, and some future-looking. My work is intuitive, I work in intense shorter moments to create longer moments of reflection in between. I revisit, question and add as time passes. The reflective process or performative aspect becomes central for my own understanding of my art. I like to challenge myself and the viewers' ability to understand the multi-faceted experience of being alive. My work is therefore raw, filled with imperfection, intimate and with conflicting ideas. I welcome the viewer to be brave with me.
